About The Founder

It Started With a Denial

Like a lot of parents, I didn’t know anything about IHSS until we needed it.


We trusted the process. We turned in everything they asked for.


And we still got denied.

My Daughter’s Diagnosis

My daughter was diagnosed with White-Sutton Syndrome in early 2025, a rare genetic condition that affects her development and daily functioning.


Before that, we already knew something wasn’t right. She wasn’t walking, talking, or meeting the milestones most kids her age were hitting.


We weren’t guessing. We had answers. And we still weren’t getting the support she needed.

So I Had to Figure It Out

After being denied, I started digging into how the system actually works.


I taught myself the rules, the process, and what IHSS is really looking for — because no one was willing to help without charging thousands.


I prepared for my own hearing from start to finish, using every resource I could find.


That experience is what everything I do now is built on.

What Changed Everything

At some point, it stopped being about just my daughter’s case.


I started realizing that what happened to us wasn’t unique.


Families weren’t getting denied because their children didn’t need help.


They were getting denied because they didn’t understand how to navigate a system that isn’t built to be clear.


Everything about it felt like an uphill battle — from the way assessments are done, to how decisions are justified, to the information you only find if you know what to look for.


And by the time most parents figure that out, they’re already behind.


That’s when it clicked for me.


This wasn’t just something I needed to figure out for my family — it was something other families needed help understanding before they ever got to this point.

Guided Families California was built at a kitchen table — not in a boardroom.

Why We Exist

Because families shouldn’t have to figure this out alone.


Because getting denied doesn’t mean your child doesn’t qualify — it often means something was missed, misunderstood, or never explained.


Because too many parents are left confused, overwhelmed, and forced to either give up or pay for help they can’t afford.


And because there should be a place where families can go to get real guidance — without pressure, without cost, and without being taken advantage of.


That’s why Guided Families California exists.

This isn’t something we studied.

It’s something we’re living.

Our mission is to give parents clear guidance, real strategies, and the confidence they need to advocate for their child — so they can secure the support their family deserves without being taken advantage of.
